Call  for  Scores 2017  Exhibition

​

New Voices Opera is calling for scores for its 2017 Exhibition to take place in November/December 2017. Submissions criteria and guidelines are given below. Every effort will be made to give all submissions a public performance at the Exhibition. This means if there is an abundance of submissions, cuts will be made in order to stay within our time limit, either interior cuts, or of entire submissions. Submissions are due with a hard deadline on Friday, September 15, 2017. If you are able to submit your score early, please do. The more time singers have to look at the works, the better represented your composition  will  be.

We will accept both scenes from operas in progress, as well as individual songs. All composers will be considered for selection for the 2019 Double Bill where the selected operas will go into full production. Therefore, preference will be given to those composers submitting scenes. Submissions can be sent via e-mail to newvoicesopera@gmail.com with an electronic copy of the score and an mp3 MIDI recording. The  email should  include  your  name  and  the  title  of  your  piece  in  the  subject  line.

Scene  Submission:

 

- Title  Page  should  include  composer’s  name  and  the  working  title  of  the  opera.

 

- Inside  cover:

       ● Duration  (overestimate,  DO  NOT  underestimate)
       ● 10-15  minute  time  limit.  (Cuts  will  be  made  to  allow  for  as  many  compositions  as possible.)

       ●  Necessary  program  notes

       ●  Full  libretto  (translations  if  necessary,  but  English  preferred)

       ●  Character  names  and  descriptions

       ● Include  voice  types  and  ranges

Song  Submission:

 

- Title  Page  should  include  composer’s  name  and  the  name  of  the  piece.

       ● Less  than  10  minutes.  (Cuts  will  be  made  to  allow  for  as  many  compositions  as possible.)
