We’ve done some soul searching over the past year, revisiting our mission and the needs of our stakeholders. For NVO to continue to act as a vehicle for new opera through collaboration and experience, it was time to reevaluate the internal process and the product we present to you. We’ve hit "refresh" and are excited to present, for the first time, Opera Uncharted, an NVO workshop.
This is an experiment. We’re all students here, learning and growing in an experiential environment. We have been granted the unique opportunity to examine opera in our own lab, take risks, and learn from and with each other. This new format will provide more effective and meaningful opportunities for student composers, performers, and administrators to collaborate and develop themselves professionally under the guidance of clinician faculty, dramaturgs, and mentors from our local community.
Even without a full production, you can still expect to receive a quality product from NVO. From concept to concert, we are confident that the risks and experimentation taken during the workshop will come to fruition in a concert reading of the operas at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater on Thursday, May 3rd - and we certainly hope to see you there!
Thank you for taking this journey with us. This year has been one heck of a ride, and we could not do what we do without the support, wisdom, and inspiration of our community and mentors. We hope you join us as we embark on this new opportunity!
