2018 Double Bill - Call for Singers

New Voices Opera is holding an open call for vocalists for its 2018 Double Bill featuring Ábel Esbenshade’s EX PARADISUM and Paul Mortilla’s Alcibiades.

 

Required Dates:

The 2018 Double Bill will take place finals week of the Spring 2018 semester on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

We are holding auditions on the following days from 7:00-9:00pm:

Monday, January 29, 2018

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Wednesday, January 31, 2018

Rehearsals for the 2018 Double Bill will begin on Monday, March 19. Rehearsals are held from 7-10pm, Monday through Friday. Both operas will be in rehearsal, so no one will be called at all times.

 

If you are interested in auditioning for the Double Bill, please fill out our audition form (link below) and include a headshot, resume, conflicts, and audition time preferences with additional recordings if you wish. We request an art song or aria in English at the live audition. If you are unavailable for the live auditions, you can submit an application with a live recording to be considered. Live auditions are preferred.

Opera Summaries and Roles

 

EX PARADISUM follows the story of Milton’s Paradise Lost ending with Eve biting into the apple. Like Milton’s rendition of the origin story, EX PARADISUM follows Lucifer’s plot to tempt Adam and Eve, and presents her (here female) as a human and relatable character.
